I figured it was about time to jump back on my photo blog and do what I need to do....get back in the habit of posting pictures, learning from experiences, and gaining insight from others! Now that I'm officially on summer break, I've promised myself to take more and post more pictures. (and now that I'm waiting for my photo profile to be accepted from iheartfaces...why didn't I do that last night...I figured now is as good of a time as ever). So here we go... The latest photos feature those from a photowalk that was held in 20 cities across the country, the metro area being one of them. During my family's trip to the UP, we saw lots of these purple boxes hanging from the trees. Any guesses?

It's covered with a sticky substance that traps the bugs and then the DNR can keep better track of the insects in the area.

The trail to the Greenstone Falls was described as 'rooted and rocky'. The falls might not have been as spectacular as some of the others, the trail was definitely the most interesting and exciting! (note for next time...bug spray, those mosquitos were HUNGRY)

During our time in the UP, my family took a boat tour of the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Beatutiful! The boat departed out of Munising, MI...a great place to be.

I couldn't resist capturing a photo of this little girl playing in the waves! I have fond memories of doing the same thing myself. Funny how Lake Superior get colder as you get older! There were so many people from the hotel that flocked the beach to view the beautiful sunset over Lake Superior...and this little girl just couldn't stay out of the water! At one time she layed down on her stomach in the waves, stood up and announced to her mom that she was all wet!

My favorite body of water: Lake Superior. This summer I was fortunate to be able to see this awesome lake from a new perspective--that from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. This was the beach in front of our hotel in Silver City, MI on our way to the Porcupine Mountians.

This was from one of my most recent trips to the Arboretum. In their vegetable garden section there were lots of squash vines climbing all over a slanted structure. These little curly vines that attach and hold on tight are just amazing!

My mom and I spent one of our days with a small group touring the Apostle Islands Sea Caves via kayak. It was an absolutely amazing experience that I look forward to doing again! We were in tandem kayaks so this was my view! Thanks Mom for paddling solo at times so I could take pictures...and thanks for handing over your camera when mine inadvertently sat in a small pool of water for a chunk of the trip and failed to work when I wanted it to. However, I am happy to report that as of this morning, my camera had power again!!

While vacationing on Madeline Island, I read, relaxed, hiked, walked on the beach, and took TONS of pictures. There's nothing like walking barefoot on the beach...and the shock the icy Lake Superior water is when a wave catches you by surprise!

I apologize for the lack of posts! Truth is that I have been taking pictures, I just have had a very slow computer on which to edit and post them without it stalling, crashing, and me ready to throw it out the window! I've also been busy with the end of the school year (yes, it's been that long since I've posted), my sister moving in with me, school ending, summer school starting, Farmer's Market starting, and vacations to lands that don't have computers! So I promise now, to start posting more frequently, I really do enjoy it!

Ok, so I had a lot of fun taking pictures at the MN Landscape Arboretum!! I hope to go back this weekend, too! I'm thrilled with how these pictures turned out! The crabapple one makes me feel like you're being welcomed into a garden. I used picnik.com to add borders and text, but the rest was all me! :) Ok so I'm a little proud of my photos!

The weather was beautiful on Sunday and I ventured to the MN Landscape Arboretum. Lilacs are almost in full bloom and crabapples are at the end of their peak. Coming over one of the hills you can see this little barn in the distance. Makes you forget that you're about 20 minutes from downtown Minneapolis.

I had about 5 minutes to kill before needing to head to work, so I walked to the north side of my house to check on my plants...my ferns were just starting to unfurl...beautiful!

Trying to do my part to live a more green life...I have a rain barrel that collects water from my gutters so I can water plants from rain water and not have to turn on the hose...my rain garden is pretty "young" yet--just planted it in September, but the native perennials are starting to come in nicely...the compost pile breaks down organic matter into nutrient rich material that can be added to gardens...

A complete and utter weakness of mine...M&Ms! I don't discriminate against any one type or color of M&Ms, I love them all...except when the spring ones come out, then I play favorites. There's something about the soft colors that give you hope that winter will soon be a memory and the snow will melt, leaves will bud, and flowers will bloom. For me, M&Ms are a complete sensory experience...the colors, the sound as they collide with each other, the feel of them in your hand, the smell and taste of chocolate.

One of my best friends a and I went to Duluth for a get away weekend. Most of my friends went somewhere warm for spring break...I went north to Duluth! Although a little chilly, the whole weekend was a "frozen treat" for me. Spending time with my friend, getting to see my sister, good food, a massage and a pedicure, being in Duluth, reminicing for hours, and laughing till my abs were sore....a wonderful "frozen treat."
